My yoga path started about a decade ago with a physical yoga asana practice. In 2020 I was turned onto a yoga philosophy podcast (Wisdom of the Sages) that really started to change the definition of yoga for me. It showed me a different way of viewing the world and my relationship within it. This drove me deeper into my practice and interest in the benefits of yoga beyond the physical. The next year, in 2021, I had the privilege of taking part in my first yoga retreat. I came back absolutely convinced I needed to make a change. I immediately went back to school to become certified as an instructor. After achieving my certification, I left the civil service job that had supported me for almost 20 years to give the gift that I had received to others. This brings me to where I am today, a full time yoga instructor and breath educator with the desire to share the knowledge and insights that my teachers have graciously granted me.
P.M.A. represents a Positive Mental Attitude.
We gain countless benefits to our health and wellbeing by cultivating a positive mindset. I’ve also witnessed and experienced how difficult it can be to maintain positivity if we are constantly in a state of stress and anxiety. This created my mission to teach others how we can better access and control our nervous system. Our autonomic nervous system consists of two states. Our sympathetic branch, better known as “fight or flight”, and our parasympathetic branch, better known as “rest and digest”. My passion is educating people how we can take ourselves out of our fight or flight energy, the everyday stresses of life that weigh us down, and allow ourselves to take the time and space to relax and bring ourselves down into our rest and digest energy.
This shift brings along with it a host of health benefits as well. In addition to simply feeling better in our bodies; this calming energy will lower our heart rate, our blood pressure, improve our digestion, help us focus, boost our immune system, lower stress and so much more.
